Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

You do not NEED a system but I like a matched set. I have a Graco Metrolite. Many of the other Graco "sets" were just too heavy for me. I got a SnugRide and a stroller that match.

The Chicco is very lightweight. And can be done with one hand and stands alone. I have a very bad back and that was the main factor for registering for it. Also the stroller is up to 50lbs which is greatChat Icon

I saw this one and liked it. Is it good for infants, too?

I am not sure if the stroller is but it has the infant carseat that sits on top. I know the stroller folds all the way flat.

Honestly, I don't think it's a necessity, but it was VERY helpful when Cassidy fell asleep in the car (which she often did).

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

I didn't because the stollers that come with the travel systems are huge and bulky and we did not have a very big car. So I got the Peg Perego Pliko and love it. It folds up like and umbrella stroller, shows very little wear and tear after 1 and 1/2 years and is still in great condition.

We really liked the Laura Ashley Travel System, it's all put together and ready to go Chat IconIt seemed much sturdier compared to non travel system strollers, it was one of the few strollers that got all 5 star ratings and it looks great!

I registered for the Graco car seat and the snap and go to use while baby is in the infant seat. I also registered for the peg Pereggo for when baby out grows the infant car seat.

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

I have the graco travel system, same as princessmaris, in the mocha.

The stroller holds up to 45 llbs and the carrier hold up to 22lbs. I think it's very sturdy and looks comfy and has alot of bells and whistles that I couldn't find in any other stroller. It's not that heavy to me at all. It turns so smoothly and is easy to fold.

We also registered for a lightweight umbrella stroller for when she's older and we need to airports, or room in the car, or when we go into the city. (the peg aria)

I think it really depends on your lifestyle, room in your car and house, and what you plan on using the stroller for.

I plan on taking alot of walks, being outside, and I have the room in my vehicle for a larger stroller.

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

This is the one we are getting. Its the Graco Vienna travel system. I have gotten mixed reviews on whether or not you need a travel system. I know if we have this, I will need to get another car seat eventually.

I registered for the Graco Snugridge and the Snugridger then the Pliko 3. I was going to get the peg preggo carrier but I thought it was way to much and I didnt want a Graco travel system because they were to heavy for me

I used a snap & go with a car seat - and then a regular stroller. I'm not a big travel system fan. First - they're heavier & a bit of a PITA IMO. Second, I wanted a better stroller, lighter etc for everyday use and for when they got older.

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

Ok, so I think I finally decided to go with the Graco Metrolite LE Stroller. Then I registered for the snugride infant carrier, too. however, now I'm all out of sorts over the stupid carseat. The infant one is a fortune and all the other ones for larger children are expensive too. I hate registering!Chat Icon

I'm looking at that same combo - the Metrolite and snugride - what pattern are you looking at?

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

I had the travel system, Graco. I thought it was soooo bulky IMO. My DD grew out of the infant carrier so fast, and the stroller was just a pain in the a$$ (Too Big). So I went and got the Peg- Perego Pliko P3 stroller and Love it!! Just the right size. Chat Icon

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

We did not register for one. DH and I use Public Transportation a lot so a travel system would be a pain in the butt to lug up stairs. I see them on the trains don't get me wrong, lots of people use them, but we just decided not to register for one but DH's brother is giving us their travel system for the car, so at least we can have the infant car seat part of the stroller. So we'll still have that for when we go out with the car but otherwise we will be using a regular stroller. We picked one that folds up very easily. I have to find a picture of it...

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

Below is a picture of the stroller we registered for? Anyone ever hear of this brand? It's a Zippy Stroller by Inglesina. I don't think either type of stroller is useless, it really depends on your lifestyle.

We were so undecided on this because we were like "well we have a car and would need the infant carseat part of the travel system but we also use public transportation all the time. So we were discussing this with one of DH's brothers and we were saying how undecided we were and then his wife said "register for the regular easy on the go stroller since you guys are the trains and buses kind of people and you can use our travel system, you are very welcome to use it". So we will keep the stroller part in the trunk of the car and the carseat part will be in the car of course.

Re: Do you REALLY need a travel system?

Hi Rachel !! Chat Icon Chat Icon

There are so many things that we dont really NEEED NEED Chat Icon I have a travel system, that is still going strong and will be going to baby#3 this summer. I have an Evenflo. We lugged it through Disney parks and it has served us so well. I knew it was more bulky than other strollers, but I loved the very spacious basket underneath and most importantly of all, I must have the mommy-cup holder, it comes in so handy for holding your drink or even the kids snacks as you walk along. I cant function with a stroller that doenst have a mommy-tray Chat Icon Ive tried and was so miserable Chat Icon I just liked the style of the evenflo (I like the Gracos too) and im just so used to it now.

and travel system doesnt necessarily mean that it will be bulky or heavy. Im sure there are many out there that are very light. Either way you will need a carseat and a stroller, so why not get a set that matches and works together.. I guess thats what made my decision. If you dont want to have the carseat with you, you just use the stroller only. but its a dream when you can take the baby out of the car still sleeping and just click the carseat into the stroller without waking baby....

congrats to you !!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes you are right about this. The one we are getting from my BIL is not one of those heavy ones.
