Anyone know anything about tution forgiveness???
I work in an inner city school and I was wondering if anyone else had done this

I got a subsidized master's in literacy through the Teaching Opportunity Program (TOP) at City College. I got two Americorp grants and ended up with about $1500 left over, which will go towards my debt from my first masters.

I had one of my student loans forgiven for working in a school that was inner city with a large percentage of immigrant students. It was a while ago, and it was a Perkins loan.
If you have loans, check the loan program information. I remember that sort of stumbling on the info accidentally. I got a certain percentage forgiven for each year I worked. After 5 years of working, i think the whole loan was paid off, but it was only a few thousand dollars.

In order for you to sign up for the Loan Forgiveness program, you need to be in a SURR school. The SURR list is not out yet. You can check back with the teachny website.

I had part of my Perkins loan forgiven from BU because I was working in an economically challegened area. My director had to write a letter describing the population we were working with. Part of my loan was forgiven then.
