Questions about starting solids

So Jake is starting solids (yay!!) and my DH was the one to take him to the ped today. Well, leave it to men to forget to ask important questions. They said cereal in the am and in the evening. He told me that they said that after 3 days on cereal to add a vegetable.

My question: When I start the vegetable do I give him a vegetable with his first morning bottle?? Am I replacing the cereal with the vegetable or adding a vegetable at the other feedings?? That's not breakfast food! And then again in the evening? Is that the type of feeding regimen your ped recommended?? I am confused!! (And I could just pinch DH for not asking the right questions!!!)

Also - which vegetable did you give first??

I tried calling the ped back but they are closed for the day. So I would appreciate any feedback!! Thanks!!

What I did with amrissa was I would give her for lunch the veggie and then her bottle I started her off with sweet potatoes

so her feeding were:
breakfast was cereal and bottle
luch was veggie and bottle
dinner was cereal veggies and bottle

she would only eat 1/2 the jar f or lunch and then the other 1/2 for dinner
