I Got a Really Nice Compliment Today
I work for a very senior Managing Director at a big investment bank and I do all kinds of stuff for her and she always says thank you and is very polite in our dealings. I know she appreciates me in general but I never really hear it except at the end of the year at bonus time. But two things happened one this week and one last week.
She's away with her husband and they have two dogs that they won't kennel. So they got their friends to stay at their home and watch the dogs. The woman who is staying there calls the office and I answer and she was just letting me know everything was good and the dogs were fine. I introduced myself and she said, oh, you're Susan..I've heard amazing things about you. I thought that was nice so I said, really? that's very nice of you to say...she went on about how she really talks about how wonderful I am..etc.. you get the picture.
Scenario #2 This was last week. I bought some new clothes and was wearing an Ann Taylor loft brown skirt suit. I don't usually wear suits, it's not that formal of an office. She commented on how great I looked in it and how slimming it was. She also said, that's an interview suit! I hope that's not what's happenening because that would be bad!
That's all good stuff and I thought I would share. Thanks for reading..
Does anybody have any nice things to share about being appreciated?

I just started a new position w/my company last month and my new boss is amazing! he has already complimented me a few times

I just started a new position w/my company last month and my new boss is amazing! he has already complimented me a few times
isn't that the best? I've had some jobs that made me feel worthless..this is how it's supposed to be!
I will never settle for BS again.

Yes, I'll do anything for her. She in turn never says no, if I need time off..she's always interested to hear about personal stuff, you know, with the house or my parents coming to town. She share some stuff too, so it's not one sided. Her DH is a Red Sox fan and we both have a good time with the rivalry..

Aww thats so nice. It is so nice to be compimented like that esp. at work.
I am a stay at home mom so most my compliments come for my son... and he is a charmer!! On the rare occasion I do my hair he will tell me " Nice hair mommy!" or out of the blue when I am cleaning the house " good job mommy!" I think the funniest is when he grabs my cheeks and goes " thats a nice face mommy!"
He also tells me without me asking " Mommy I love you this much" and opens his arms as wide as he can until they are behind his back  
I think this is so beautiful! Even better!

I love 3rd party compliments - they're much more real. I work for someone that tells me how much he appreciates me daily. He's a very difficult person to deal with - it really is great to get that feedback.

Last week, a disgruntled family member of one of my kids called Commission for Quality Care on my job. She is angry that we won't let her see her nephew while he is hospitalized. Albany had to come down and investigage. Since I am the primary therapist on the case, I was interviewed first by my risk management office and then by Albany. The director of the hospital and the risk manager told my supervisor how impressed they were with me and that my clinical skills and family involvment are incredible.
It made me feel really good to hear this from my supervisor.

My boss told me this week that if he won the lottery, he'd put me on his own personal payroll so he'd be sure to never lose me

That is so nice of her! I don't really feel appreciated, which is why I am leaving my position, but today when I told several colleagues I was leaving they all wrote nice emails back, one saying how pleasant and intelligent I am, and how quickly and efficiently I get stuff done. When interviewing for my new position they all said I was overqualified in every way, and any office would be happy and lucky to have me. Needless to say, I feel more appreciated already!

Awwww...that's so sweet.
I guess the best compliment I ever got that i can think of now is when it was opening night of the first show I ever assistant directed,and the director said to me "You have what it takes."
Also, on my last show, I screwed up something major and I felt really bad about it and he said to me "I could never be disappointed in you."
I'm going to miss that encouragement!
