Different groups of friends

Do you have different groups of friends that get along with each other or do you have to keep them seperate because they can't stand each other?

Re: Different groups of friends

I have groups of friends that are soooo different from one another that they are on opposite sides of the spectrum. I've tried to get them together a couple of times at parties and such but it's difficult and they all seem very cliquey (won't break out of their group).

I'm trying to decide if I want to do a super-humungous party at my house this summer and again try to meld the groups together. I have some newer friends I want to invite as well (Deb, Jenn, Jamie, DennisChat Icon ) and I hope that they will be comfortable mixing with my "old" crew (who tends to be extremely rowdy and out of control).

Re: Different groups of friends

I don't have a lot of friends. I am more of a quality not quantity person. But, yes, they all get along and can hang together.

I have work friends and school friends. I don't purposely keep them apart, I just don't think they'd have too much in common with each other.

Re: Different groups of friends

I hang out with such different groups, my work friends, then neighborhood friends, high school friends, Leo's friends' girlfriends. I rarely ever mix groups, except my cousins, I mix them in with everyone.

Re: Different groups of friends

I have 2 groups of friends, my life long friends and the friends I "aquired" over the years. They have all hung out on many occasions but they certainly wouldn't intermingle on their own.
I also am friend's with DH's friends wives. They really only met my other friends at my wedding. They each know about each other but that's about it.

We have different groups of friends. We have had them all together before, but usually it is just one group at a time.

Re: Different groups of friends

My high school friends and DH and my law school friends have gotten along very well. The ones who live in DC hang out together now, which I think is great. Also, one of my co-workers has become very friendly with the girlfriend of one of our law school friends. I think it's great that we can hang out with everyone and not have to worry about people getting along.

Re: Different groups of friends

my 3 best friends live 7 hours away. Then I have a few friends here and then some work friends. So they never really were together at the same time at any time besides my bridal shower and my wedding. They all got along well and I really enjoyed witnessing all of it. I am sure if there were ever a time where we were together again it would be a good experience.

Re: Different groups of friends

I don't have groups of friends as I have a few friends I count as my really close friends - and they are separate. Not because they can't stand each other but because I hang out with them at different times.

My bridal shower & wedding were definitely a worlds colliding situation.

Same here. Three of them met at my wedding, and all was fine.
