financial advice

I got a decent raise this school year, and have another raise coming next month. I am trying to decide if it is better to send more money to the credit cards each month, or add more to my savings account? What would you do? I already pay more than the minimum amounts due on my cards.

Re: financial advice

I'd say getting your credit cards paid off should be your priority. Otherwise your paying more in interest than you'd be earning in a savings account.

christy- i always ask myself that same question... should I put it in savings or pay off the cc and send more in. As much as I want to add to my savings, I am trying to pay more a month so I can get the cc down and eventually have nothing left so I can save.. Good Luck!

Christy - pay off the credit cards as quickly as you can!
When we finally settled our contract this year and got our retro checks, that was the first thing I paid off. So now we have no cc debt, our couches are paid off and all we have left are car and mortgage loans, so we can put the rest towards savings! Chat Icon

Good luck - and congratulations on your raise!!Chat Icon

Hi Birthday Girl!
Congrats on paying off the CC's...what an achievement. I have my MA +30 coming to me in a few checks, and my + 45 in the spring. So I am really trying to plan ahead. How are you doing?

Hi!
It was a total wieght off my shoulders to get rid of the CC debt...and it wasn't even that it was that much - it's just the interest rates that get me!
I just got my Masters + 15 with the last paycheck....and with the new contract salary it was a nice boost! So hopefully, we'll be able to start saving a bunch of money for a house now Chat Icon

Re: financial advice

Pay off the credit cards 1st. Save later. If you want put in small deposits to savings when you can, 20 here and there, will be slow, but it will built up. Chat Icon
