April Fools Joke Gone Bad
Hi ladies........
I played an April Fools joke on my bestfriend yesterday and it went sour. I told her I was thinking of leaving my husband, that I hated him and that there was someone else that I had falling in love with, etc. ,etc., etc. I saw her this morning and figured I'd tell her it was a joke. Yeah, well I feel like a shmuck  , she believed me and lost sleep last night over it. I feel awful. I really do. I honestly didn't think it would hurt her feelings. What an a$$ I am. I said I was sorry, but I think she's really peeved. I never meant for the joke to hurt her. I honestly thought she'd laugh and say, I kinda figured it was one of your practicle jokes and we'd laugh together. However that wasn't the case and I feel awful, guilty, bad, sad and I don't know what to do to say I'M SORRY. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

I have to agree, dumb, dumb and dumb. .To me there are certain things that should not be joked about and for me, that is certainly one of them.
All you can do is apologize a million times over and hope she forgives.

oh gosh, yeah def. not a good joke to play.. in college these 2 girls played a joke on us (our other grp of friends) and kinda let it go too far, unfortunatly to this day i still dont talk to those girls and cant 4give them for the joke they played, i sure hope ur friend forgives u when she realizes that u didnt mean to upset her

Maybe you can tell her that the fact that she lost sleep over it proves what a good friend she is and what a stupid thing it was to do and then apologize profusely!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I also had an April Fools joke go sour with my friend. She hasn't returned my calls or emails since Saturday.
So, I can't give you much advice since I don't know how to fix this myself. But I can offer some empathy and hugs.

I agree.
Don't be so hard on yourself.
Give her some space, tell your hubby you love him and try to move on from it. If she's a good a friend as she seems, she'll come around.

since I like playing practicle jokes..........that's why I waited............so that it would be at least somewhat believable. I just didn't think it would go this far and hurt her. I wouldn't do anything to jeapordize my friendship with her. I know it will pass, but I just feel ****** that I did this.

Ok I don't think you need me to point out April Fool's was on Saturday or that was it was bad form. I can tell you're feeling bad enough about this.
Best thing to do is sit her down again & apologize - and apologize, and apologize until she accepts it. If she doesn't, there is nothing you can do about it. No doubt you've learned your lesson on this one.
