C section moms..another question..

For those of you ladies who had a c section..did the doctor hold the baby up over the curtain so you could see him/her right when she was born basically?

It bothers me that I didnt see my baby girl right the second after she was born. I feel like I missed out on a huge experience. She was VERY blue when she was first born and I am thinking that maybe thats why they didnt show me (thinking something was wrong?) but I feel so bad that I didnt get to see her right after she was born.

They quickly shoved her aroudn the side of the curtain and I didnt know they had her there. By the time I looked over I had like a second to see her. To add insult to injury, the pics DH took at that moment didnt even come out

They shoved this screaming baby in my face and then took him away. I could barely get a good look at him. I know it'sdisappointing when we have certain expectations with the way things are going to go and it doesn't work out. Try not to let it bother you too much.

No. didn't see he babies until they were weighed, measued and wrapped up tight.

no. but they weighed and measured her and cleaned her right next to me where i could watch. then they held her on me because i started to panic after they took her out. it calmed me down.

My dh went over to where the nurses brought him and this is the first pic. I didn't see him until he was wrapped up.

Not until they were cleaned and wrapped up. They wanted to check on them since i was having them early.

my doctor held the baby up over the curtain for a spilt second with both my csections. we werent allowed to bring in a camara though. so i have no pics.

They put her right next to my face for a brief second so I could see her then they took her to weigh and clean her.

i was so drugged that the room was spinning! i had a bad reaction from the spinal, i know they showed her, but i dont remember. i have to look at photos to remember.

They did show me to him briefly and then they cleaned him up. to tell you the truth between all the drugs and the freezing cold temps in that OR, and being so giddy and on cloud 9 about what was going on, I was totally fine with that. they brought him over for as long as I wanted when he was all wrapped up. and then daddy held him for a while.

you really didnt miss a huge experiencem the whole hospital experience as a whole is amazing, and you had your baby girl all to yourself whenever you wanted. you didnt miss a thing, i promise

no they moved him to the table to clean him up first then once he was wrapped and everything i was able to see him for a second

I had an emergency c-section and i unfortunately didn't get to see my son for four hours after i had him.... VERY dissapointed!! The first time I saw my son I was in recovery and my husband showed me pictures of my son. I did have expectations but like you ladies said.. i am just glad that he is healthy and alive!

I don't remember if they showed him over the curtain or not. I just remember being soo shocked I had a boy, and then they cleaned him up and brought him over to me. They could have showed him over the curtain, but I feel like everything was a whirlwind at that point, so I don't remember that?.

no. i saw her from all the way across the operating room (i just remember seeing this tiny little thing with blonde hair) and then a few minutes later they brought her over for me to kiss her quickly. then it was off to the nursery for clean up, etc.

here we are


DH watched the surgery & took pictures of them taking her out of me. They are wonderful photos (not gross really) but I'll spare you!

He also has video of her first examination by the doctors when he went to the nursery with her. He photographed everything!

I didn't get to see her. They had to rush her to NICU so I got to get a peek at her as they were rushing out of the room. They took me into the NICU on the gurney on the way up to my room but I was so far away from her I really couldn't see her. I finally got to see her when DH wheeled me down that night but wasn't allowed to hold her until the next night.

I saw her pretty much right away, maybe after they cleaned her. We started taking pictures in the OR about 10 minutes after she was born- but I think that was because we didn't think of it right away.

They held DS up but I couldn't see him, DH stood up and looked over the curtain. I saw them cleaning him up and weighing him since they did that pretty much right next to me. When they were done with all that and wrapped him up they brought him over for a kiss and then took him away. I didn't see him again until 2 hours later. DH was told not to take any pics until he was given the ok. The first pic he was able to take was when they placed him on the scale.

I feel sad that I missed out on him being put on my lap after giving birth but I'm thankful that he and I were fine!

anyway they held her around the curtain quickly for us to see... then brought her a few feet away to get her ready, weigh her etc. and i watched the whole thing, after that they brought her to me for a kiss and gave her to dh

They showed me DS for a second but I was so out of it I dont really remember seeing him....The hospital I delivered at didnt allow camera's in the OR, so we dont even have pics....

No, they took to him to check on him and clean him, you know the usual but I was able to see him since he was close to me. DH was able to take pics while they were working on him. Then a nurse brought him over while they stitched me up and DH was holding him on my chest.
