Doctor Update

Hi all Chat Icon

had a dr appt today ... i am 39 weeks and 1 cm dialated. she said i could go tomorrow, in a week or in 3 weeks! ugh! i just want him now!!

she was scaring me a little though talking about the actual delivery. she says they shut off the epi at 5-6 cm so if I want it, i should get to the hospital right away. then she was talking about an episiotomy and tearing and told me i should start stretching the perineum (sp?) now ... i feel stupid asking but i don't even know where that is!! i mean, i know, but i don't! i should have asked her but i was just so overwelmed w/ everything. has anyone done this 'strecthing' ?

has anyone delivered at riverhead hospital, central suffolk ... now known as peconic bay medical center? i'd like to know everyone's experiences.

this is really happening!! i'm getting so nervous!!

Re: Doctor Update

ok- this is very TMI so warning future readers what I am posting but the perineum is the area between your vaginal opening and your butt. One baby book I read said you can reduce the tearing by pre-streching the area. They recommended rubbing the area around the opening gently several times a day.
Hope this helps. Chat Icon

Perineum is the area between your cha cha and pooper, otherwise known as your taintChat Icon If you massage it with olive oil it is supposed to help with not needing an episiotomy.

Re: Doctor Update

How exciting!

Did she tell you why they shut the epi off? I made sure mine was dripping until Gianna was out! I know some women don't feel the urge to push with the epi, but I did, and sure didn't want to feel that pain after 6cm and birth!
