Fetal Echo cardiogram
Did anyone have to get this done while they were preggo? I saw my endo yesterday and she said I need to get it done, because I am diabetic and I have a higher chance of having a baby with heart problems I have a OBGYN appt tonight so I will get more info there but was just wondering if anyone else had to get this done. TIA

My sister who is a diabetic had to have it done with both her children.

She needed to go to a special baby heart doctor for this but every OB visit the Dr would hook her up to a heart monitor. I can speak to her and get you more information if you would like. Let me just tell you, that she just had her second child a week and a half ago and both children were fine.

I think you have to go to a cardiology office to have it done, I only say this because my mom is a nurse for a pediatric cardiologist and they do the echo's at her office.
I am sure everything will fine.

I had one done. I go see a specialist on a regular basis who located at Stony Brook Hospital at that's where mine was done. I'm sure your regular doctor will tell you where to go. It's done with a higher tech sono machine and is bascially a sono of the babies heart. I got the results right there and everything was fine!

I had mine done at Stony Brook also, its really not a big deal, its just like a regular sono except they are focusing on the babies heart.

I had mine at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC. As the others have said, it is similar to a sono just focused on the baby's heart. I had it done because they wanted to be sure that I did not pass on my congenital heart defect to my DD.
