I Bucked the System Today

I'm so proud of myself Chat Icon I'm SUCH a rule follower, DH always gets annoyed with me about it.

Well, this morning, I show up at Forest Hills station at 6:20am. There are 2 lines - one for people who have tickets (which I did) and one for people who needed to buy tickets. After the ticket booth, the two lines become one.

So, all the people who were on the awful ticket line yesterday apparently decided to buy their tix for today too because there were no less than 1500 people on the ticket holders line. It was UNBELIEVEABLE. The ticket buyer's line, however, had about 8 people on it. When I finally got to the end, the cop said "Do you have a ticket or do you need a ticket?" So I said "if I need a ticket, do I then have to come back here and get on the back of this line?" "Oh no, ma'am, you proceed forward."

"Ok, then I need a ticket". Chat Icon

I got on the second train!!!!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I swear to you, it would have taken me at LEAST 2 hours to get through the other line. I was so proud of myself Chat Icon

Chat Icon Sorry!! It did cost me an additional $4 for the ticket, if that makes it any better Chat Icon

The guy at the ticket booth was funny. I asked for 1 one way and he goes "you don't need a round trip, you're not coming home?" so I just looked at him and smiled and he goes "OH!" and he winked Chat Icon

Hmmm.... interesting story. Kinda reminds me of this post. Chat Icon

There are tens of thousands of people trying to get on trains at one place. They need to be orderly and organized - all these rules are put in place for a reason. Chat Icon

Not the same. I FOLLOWED the rules, the rules just didn't make much sense. I didn't tell the guy 'screw you, I'm doing what I want anyway'. I bought a ticket and was lucky enough to get on the train quickly.

So Chat Icon right back at ya.

Wrong answer. I used the system to my advantage. You completely disregarded it to get ahead.

Wouldn't expect you to understand something quite so complex though Chat Icon Glad I could provide entertainment for your morning.

They are saying on the news they may finally come to an agreement today on the strike.

I don't see this going past Friday cause they will get fined for all the days over the weekend (including xmas where they probably won't be out negotiating anyways).

Let's see if I can explain it so someone like you will understand... I followed the precise rules that were stated by the cop. I went on the line, BOUGHT A TICKET, and got on the train. I was just one of the few smart enough to think of it.

You, on the other hand, blatantly ignored what you were told to do because, well, you're you - obnoxious at best.

And what the hell are you "no problem"ing me about?? I didn't say anything in my post that would lead to that response Chat Icon

And I followed the rules on the LIRR website under the strike contingency plans that clearly state you can buy a ticket on the train (for more money). Chat Icon

How the ____ is this any different? Chat Icon Chat Icon

You paid extra for a ticket you didn't need to get on a train quicker.

I was willing to do the same by paying a surcharge from the train conductor.

Leeners: I never had any issues with you in the past... but after that stab you took at me in the other thread (which I ignored). And now talking a load of horseshyt here... you really need to GET OVER YOURSELF. Chat Icon

I snuck onto a train yesterday.

Yeah, you're right, you followed the rules Chat Icon "Sneaking" always is part of 'rule following'. I didn't 'sneak' anywhere - I did what I was told to do. YOU need to get over ME Chat Icon

I'm done with this. You're, as always, being a jackass. I don't respond to jackasses Chat Icon

Yeah I "snuck" on right after the second MTA employee I spoke to that day clearly said to head right for the platform. Chat Icon The beauty of getting the information from the RIGHT person.

I'm done with this too. Let me know if you still need help removing that foot our of your mouth. Chat Icon

And thank you FMers for this one. Chat Icon
