I made a break thru tonite... started to clean out....
Both of my parents have passed away. My Mom 12 years ago, and my Dad almost 5 years ago. I was not ready to get rid of there stuff in there room. I kind of had it blocked off and would just not go in there. DH and I have another bedroom in the house. ( A large bedroom. ) Something made me want to do it tonite. It was so sad, but it felt good. I had a good cry when I found a bunch of presents meant for me from my Dad. I could not believe it.  I threw out a lot. I still have plenty to go , we plan on doing this work every nite until it gets emptied. I just need some hugs, and thank u in advance for listening.

Just take it one day at a time and if it gets to be too much stop..but at least you tried. As dumb as we may sound, my family has yet to clean out my brothers stuff from his room and it will be 10 years that he is gone in May. I think for my mom and my brother, who still live in the house, if they clean that room out, its like he will officially be gone and every last piece of him is gone too and they are just not ready to part with all his stuff.

I just cried reading your post. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you. It must take all the strength you have to do this. It will feel good to have it re-done I bet.

It's a tough chore, but I remember finding some great photos and letters that my mom had hidden away that I had never seen. So in a way, it turned into something a little more positive than I expected.
