Ava Rose's 1st Birthday Party - Please help..

Hi,

We are in the process of planning Ava Rose's 1st birthday. :) I can't believe she is 8 months old already.

I would like to have a nice size party about 60-70 people. We planned on having it in the backyard, but really can't fit that many people. Her birthday is the 4th of July, that is why, we wanted to do an outdoor BBQ type thing.

Would anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? Could I maybe have it in a park??

Also, should i have it on the 4th or the weekend prior. The problem with that is my cousin had a baby on July 1st. (they are 3 days apart). I have to find out when she is having her daughters party, but I am assuming that weekend. She had suggested having their parties together, but I think Ava and her daughter deserve their own 1st b-day parties.

What do you think?

I don't know where you live but I live in Levittown and they always have parties over the spring and summer at Wantagh park. I dont know where you'd have to call but it always looked like something that would be fun to me because there is so much open space and plenty of park room for the kiddos.

Cedarcreek park in Wantagh or actually its Seaford rents out tents and there is a great playground. Wantagh park is great too

I think as cousins, it would be great to celebrate their birthdays together. Eventually when Ava is older, she'll be having her own parties with her classmates. Also having two 1st birthday parties in the span of 2 weeks cuts into your family's summer weekends.

Every year friends of ours rent out a place to have a beach party in Long Beach. It's at the state park & it looks like a big giant mushroom. I can try to find out the info if you're interested.

Do you think she may want to be closer to you now that you both have children the same age?

If you're not close (and don't want to be), then I would do your own party.

Blydenburgh, Sunken Meadow are nice parks too.

Crab Meadow beach in Northport has a great set up for a party. It's under a pavillion with all the picnic tables and has a lot of bbqs. It's right next to the playground and bathrooms. You could put up volley ball nets or horseshoes...
