Question about making my own baby food at 4 months?

The smell and taste of the bananas and carrots made me want to throw up - so i decided to start making some of my own baby foods.

I pureed (sp?) some pears, apples and carrots just to see if she would like it and she seems to be taking a liking to them although its taking alot of work for her to actually eat her cereal since she still loves the gradification of her bottle.

I try to mash them up real good in the blender and even liquidy them a bit with some water.

Do you think the consistency of making my own food would still be okay for a 4 month old?
Today she seems to be fine - but yesterday she had some episodes of gas.

Thanks.Chat Icon

I make loads of my own baby foods and its easy peasy lemon squeezy! I steam the veg and use a hand blender to get it liquified, if I am not sure about the consistancy, I press it through a sieve. With fruits like pears, I cook them (with no water, they make enough water) until they are soft and again, use the hand blender until they are purees. Then I put them in ice cube trays and freeze them, its so easy! I just mash up fresh fruits like Kiwi, Mango, Banana...also I make combinations, so for brekkie today he had Fig & Banana.

I do give the kid some jars of food to get him used to combinations of flavors.

I think its a great idea to make your own food, much cheaper and you know exactly whats going into your kiddy!

Why thank you! Get yourself a Braun Handblender and get pureeing! Its easier to make big batches than small ones, so once you do a big batch, it will last for weeks.
