I cannot tell you how many times I have lied on LIW. My god, I have to tie my hands behind my back reading some posts. There is one person in particular who drives me BATTY.

I wonder whether and how much people lie on chat forums. I'm not talking about information about themselves. I mean whether someone posts something about an idea or a pic and asks for opinions. Do you think people say they like something when they really don't? Is it to be accepted into a clique or to follow what everyone else thinks? Is it just to be polite? If someone posts pics or ideas (especially on LIW) and I don't like it, I'll just read the post and won't comment. I know everyone has different taste, but I wonder if some people really believe what they write.
of course they do...
But i don't think those kind of lies are that bad since most of the people looking for opinions really aren't at all...
They just want to have their feelings confirmed

i would say that the majority of the time people are lying about their opinion and sucking up for the popular vote even though they're home cursing the person out on the computer about their post!!!

I would not lie to be "accepted" into a virtual clique.
If I like something, I comment. If I don't and can offer constuctive criticism, I do. If I loathe something, I just pass the post by-- why stir the pot? I do admit to telling a white lie here or there to someone just to be nice-- but, my intensions are always good.

I don't see why you would lie.
I'll either answer it or if its a case where someone doens'tr want an opinion or where a negative opinion would only hurt and not help (as in "Actually your wedding dress makes you look like abig fat cow, but you already bought it, so there's nada you can do"), I just don't post.
