Re: anyone know what it costs to upgrade the electrical?
We paid $1400 or $1500 and that was also adding 2 extra lines just for the a/cs plus adding electric out in our backyard. They were great (father and son team) and fast.

Re: anyone know what it costs to upgrade the electrical?
We paid $2k to upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps. That included new outlets in the kitchen and both bathrooms (I forget what they are called, they are supposed to be better to have near water)

Re: anyone know what it costs to upgrade the electrical?
Just curious....If the house is only 60 amps wouldn't you have to also update the wiring in the house? The reason i ask is because the house we are buying is 100 amps and built in 1927 so wouldn't the wiring throughout the house be old and need to be changed? How much would this cost?

Re: anyone know what it costs to upgrade the electrical?
60 to 200 is a big leap, are you sure you need 200? 60amps is low, but 100-150 is average - unless you have a huge house, central air or a pool, you probably don't need 200.
Most of the houses I appraise have 100 with no problems. The bigger houses have 150/200.

We went from 100A to 200A and it made a huge difference. We no longer blew a circuit if I had the dryer and AC on. We paid about $1200.

Trish, yours falls into the BIGGER house category
Just seems like everyone thinks they need 200amps, and thats not always true.

Wow, you made me smile.... I wouldn't have classified my house is big! And we don't even have central air, just window AC units!
