Finding Out the Sex

When those of you found out the sex, did you find out at level II or did you do the amnio?

For those of you who found out at the Level II, how confident are you on what they told you?

Re: Finding Out the Sex

I found out with the sono- the tech was pretty confident.
I have since had more sonos and was told "It's still a girl!"

I found out "officially" at the level 2 and they were absolutely correct. But unofficially, I found out at a sono I had at 14 weeks when the sono tech took a "guess". She was 100% right even at 14 weeks. But it's easier to be certain when it's a boy.

Re: Finding Out the Sex

I found out at my 20 week sono...

They then confirmed it at 32 weeks...He def. wasnt shy and there wasnt even the slightest doubt in mind that he was DEF a BOY!

I had an amnio done @ the end of 36 weeks...I didnt even bother asking is it def. a boy... There was no mistaking it after that last sono..

Sure enough...He's a boy!

Re: Finding Out the Sex

Thanks ladies.

I had my Level II yesterday and the doctor didn't see anything so he said if he had to guess, he'd say Chat Icon However, I'm not totally convinced. I feel like the only 100% is a boy.

I wouldn't be confident that it was a girl just because they didn't see anything. I would only believe it was a girl if they saw 3 lines. I just had my level 2 last week and i was told it's definitely a boy. I only saw the penis for all of like 2 seconds so I still feel somewhat unsure. I worry that maybe it was the umbilical cord or something. Will you be having another sono at some point? I would definitely want them to check again.

I agree. If they said they didn't see anything I would be doubtful. With our level II the doc showed us the 3 lines. Then we had to go back for a recheck and the 3 lines were there again. I also had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and girl again so I was pretty confident.

I found out at 14 weeks at my job by one of my sono tech coworkers. I saw it on the screen, and then every week after that I've seen it. Then just a few weeks ago at work, i finally saw the testicles too. When i went for my Level II at my OB's office at 20 weeks, i told HER it was a boy, and she just confirmed that indeed it was and he kept showing it to us!!! Re: Finding Out the Sex

The doctor said he was almost positive he thinks it's a girl. I'm not so sure. Although we didn't see anything, I'm not convinced.

I'll ask my regular doctor to check again in the next few weeks.

Re: Finding Out the Sex

Thanks Shana. That picture of your sono helped alot. I'm almost sure I see three lines. Two are more defined that three. Does that mean boy if I see lines also? I'm sorry for sounding so dumb but these sonos are so tough to figure out.

Re: Finding Out the Sex

Marybeth...

The three lines confirm the labia of a girl (I see 2 also..but hey I'm not the professional!!)

If you have a boy, we were told to look for a "turtle", the testes and the little winkie poking outward. Our sono tech had generic pics of both to compare to.

I'm sure if you google for the image of male or female sonograms, you'll find some!!

Re: Finding Out the Sex

I'm a little more confident now that it's a girl based on what you girls are telling me. I'm also more confident that it was a doctor rather than a technician (nothing against technicians) however, this guy seemed pretty sure. I would love for Delaney to have a sister but I don't want to be prejudice against a boy.

Thank you ladies so much.

Now I have to deal with the name dilema with my husband. We can't agree on a girls name. I want Peyton so badly and he wants Devin. So let the arguing begin!

Re: Finding Out the Sex

Well, we also just had our Level 2 last week and were told by both the dr at the hospital and tech that it was a girl because they saw the 3 lines indicating a labia. Last night, I went in for my monthly checkup with my own doctor, and I asked him about it and he said that they usually don't write girl on the sheet unless they are sure they saw something specific. So, I think it's pretty accurate but then again who knows!!! Good Luck!
