Nanny vs Au pair
Well nots as exciting a news as before, but Rob and I are seriously thinking about getting an Au pair. We are going to try to get one from S. Korea. What do you guys think?
THey seem to work out very well for other people DH works with. Any one else know anyone who has one?

I think that is a great idea to get an au pair, especially from S. Korea. The au pair will be able to teach them about the culture as well as the language. It's an awesome option!

Re: Nanny vs Au pair
Just remember that with an Au pair the person becomes a member of your family..typically they are young (early 20's), and their family is far away. You need to provide them with a place to life and a family life. That means during dinner you have someone other that just you, DH and baby. You might also need to provide them with a car, not sure.
We were just not comfortable with the idea of having another person join our family in that way and live with us full-time.
Good Luck finding someone!! Make sure you use a legal, reputable service that screens all of their au pairs or nannies.

Re: Nanny vs Au pair
Thanks for the info, we are going to use an agency that a bunch of our friend use. I am kinda looking forward to having someone else become a part of our family. I think it would be really cool. My bigger fear is that we don't get along. But most people say they are really quite happy.
I also think it will be an opportunity for my children to learn customs of thier country. Something I could never give them. Hopefully we can get an Au pair from S. Korea. Don't know yet.
Thanks again for your insight.
