First day at the new job responsibilities

I honestly cried at my desk today. I felt like my heart was ripped out as I packed up all my files and had to hand them to my manager. I felt like I was fired. I had tears coming down my face. It was hard. And it was only 10am. (I had been in for about 10 minutes)

10:10 I get handed 5 requests. Phones ringing off the hook, get yelled at that I am talking too long on the phone with a customer who is planning their honeymoon, and told I'll be at my desk all day.

12:30 finally a break

Repeat everything from above and add in more calls and a honeymoon to be planned for March 2007 to someplace in the carribbean all inclusive adults only. 7 or 10 days whichever sounds better.

2pm lunch

2:30 half the team is gone into training, call volume increases. Floor manager and call center manager scream how we dont have enough people and for us to work faster.
(note to self didnt know I was a robot. If so I think I need a tune up)

3:45 tears ready to come down my face again. I cant take it. I want to quit. Instant message co-worker smiley face with tears. She emails me back icon with a drink. (note to self pick up wine on way home)

4pm finally get to work on the executive directors big trip that is happening in 2 weeks. Talk to him and his wife, get all my confirmations, and ready to send my emails.

4:10 rethink that plan, get told to work on a group of 23 ballerina's going to NYC. A traveling ballerina company. Performing at the Joyce Theater on 19th street in the chelsea neighborhood. Get told I'll be the NYC specialist for this group since I come from NY. Gee Thanks!!!

5pm begging for time to speed up

6pm all of management is gone, I have one hour left. Finally able to do my call backs, respond to some emails and close up my day. I feel at ease.

7pm walk out the door and cry tears of joy that I am departing hell

I pray it gets better. I know it's the first day of the new change, and I didnt know what to expect and it just has to get better. It just has too. I think once I am more familiar with things and response times I'll be able to handle it better and coordinate better. I was just incredably unprepared and had no control over a situation.
