I hate cablevision! (vent)

Sorry for the vent- but I woke up this morning and had NO internet and NO phone but my tv works perfectly. I have the triple play package.

I called them and they have NO idea what is wrong with it. The guy barely spoke english and suggested I PULL the cord out of the wall where the splitter was to try to reconnect my modem there but in doing so I won't be able to use the TV in that room

So I had to get ready for work and DH gets on the phone since they say they HAVE to come and fix it. Well they tell him well we can come today or tomorrow from 10am-8pm. Umm yeah some of us work - do you have say a smaller window - Nope um DH asked what does this person do with a window like that when they have to work and they told him it wasn't their problem take a vacation day or sick day or don't get it fixed

So after some going back and forth (and DH was very polite just upset never rude) they finally gave him 2-5 on Friday after telling him they only had 10-5. So I will have no internet or phone until Friday

that stinks!

and that's the #1 reason why I wont get their VoIP phone. they're not known for being reliable

I have learned that those triple play packages are not always the best. Mine was always getting screwed up (phone/internet portion) and i had time warner... i would call and speak to a manager

See we have had this since 12/04 and never had a problem with it ever! So I was shocked to suddenly wake up and have no phone or internet! Especially since they monitor me here so I can only sneak on occasionally.

I will be in LIF withdrawal

I never have problems with my Phone.

And Cablevision pays my mortgage so I can't hate them

I've had that happen. I shut everything down, unplug the modem, the router and wait about a minute or two. I then reconnect everything and boot up the computer. Most of the time this works. Have you tried this yet?

That's the only problem I've had and it happens every once in a while, but otherwise I've had very few problems.

Yup I tried unplugging it for a few minutes, tried taking out the cable for a few minutes even resetting the modem - I have had my phone go out for a few minutes but doing the above always works - never had problems iwth the internet before - The guy on the phone had me do everything I had done before call them again and it still didn't work. They tell me that they were checking something out and that everything seems to be okay so it has to be the cable and where it splits

They tell me that the tv's run at a much lower frequency than the phones and the internet so that once it splits the signal is too weak - strange explanation for something that just suddenly happened - but okay - so the cable is attached to my wall -

Hey if they pay your mortgage do you think you can work some magic and get them to come sooner in a window we can do - since 10am -8pm is just no logical for what 99% of the population under the retirement age

christine, we had the same problem.
it turned out an animal had chewed through the cable on top of the poll outside.

Well they left a message on my machine that there was an outage after all after telling us there wasn't and that they fixed it so they cancelled our appt and if we get home and it doesn't work to call and make another appt. It better work when we get home
