Feeding on demand

I see a lot of you have your babies on feeding schedules. When did it start?

DD has no schedule, am I supposed to try and put her on one? At her 2 month check up the ped said I should still feed her on demand at that point.

Obviously I will feed her when she is hungry, but am I supposed to anticipate when she will be hungry and feed her before she asks?

She is a little over 3 months old.

I think if you are BFing you are supposed to feed on demand.

Jake kind of fell into his own schedule. From the hospital he came home and was eating every 3 hrs or so. Slowly that increased to every 4 hrs. He is now 8 mos and is still eating every 4 hrs...though it seems like we might be headed for a small change.

Stephanie, my Ped told me the same thing. Alyson has made a schedule on her own (and I'm sure your daughter has to, you don't realize it yet).

Write down the times she eats, what she does afterwards and for how long (plaing for 30 min), whne she goes to sleep/nap and for how long, then what time she wakes up to eat again. You'll notice a pattern!!!

At this age it might be hard to get her into a rigid schedule but she will definitely start eating less frequently. Miranda went from every 2 to every 3 and now she's every 3-4 depending on the day and how much she takes at a feeding.
Since you're using formula if she's taking a decent size bottle she probably won't eat every 2 hours anymore because formula takes longer to digest than breastmilk.
They kind of work a schedule out but we're still all over the place except for the space between feedings.
