How did you tell your parents?

My husband and I were wondering about when the time comes how we will do it...

My parents were both out of state so we emailed them a picture of my sonogram

I showed my mom my sonogram picture and at the time she was holding my nephew so I said "this is your grandson's cousin and your second grandchild"

my mom passed away before she ever met my children, but when it came to telling my dad, its was funny, me and dh went to his house and said, "hi grandpa, we have some news". lol. that was his first grandchild so he knew right away.

With my daughter we called my parents and told them - she didn't believe me and said it was so mean to joke around like that. I told her I'd be over in 10 minutes......we drove over and I walked in the door and she was still yelling at me so I threw the PG test at her. The look on her face was PRICELESS.........my father just sat there and cried.

With my son I didn't say anything right away. We were in the mall and it was before Mother's day and my mom kept saying she wanted to buy me something and if I saw anything to let her know. So she asked me again *just* as we were passing Motherhood Maternity so I walked into the store and said "you could buy me something here". I think she stood in the middle of the mall and cursed at me LOL!!!!

we invited both sets of parents over for dinner a few days after we got our BFP. then we put a sign on our doggie that said "I'm going to be a big brother!"

My dad originally thought we meant we were getting a new puppy

Once they realized it was not a puppy, they could not stop crying for the rest of the night, they were besides themselves they were so happy.

It all happened SO fast... We decided to try to get pregnant and told the family we were going to. Then 2 weeks after that we told them that, we were pregnant and called them the day we tested. They all were OMG like that was fast

With Sarah we got my mom and DH's parents bibs that said "I Love Grandma" etc. and gave them with notes pinned on that said "See you on Feb. 24th! Love, Baby Xxxx" I just called my dad to tell him.

This time we got Sarah a t-shirt that said "I'm going to be a big sister" and had her wear it on Thanksgiving. We just waited for people to figure it out. We emailed the picture to DH's parents and my dad since they are all out of town. It's in my profile.

We were sitting around and told my Mom that we wanted to go out to dinner and that we wanted to take her with us. She kind of B*tched and moaned because it was late in the evening but then I said we wanted to celebrate with her. She asked what we were celebrating and I said "the fact that you're going to be a grandmother again". She nearly fell of her chair!

We waited to tell his parents for a few more weeks. We handed them a Valentine's card that said "to my Grandparents" they both burst into tears!

We told everyone in the family the same day. We called everyone except my mom and DH's mom who we told in person.

Well, I went out to LI to visit for some family function and my mom and I were driving to the store. We were talking about things in general, and then the subject turned to shopping. There is a baby clothing store by me in NJ that I took her too when I was shopping for friends/family that had babies...she loved the store. She bought her other 2 grandchildren so much stuff there. So, she was talking and I said that maybe one of these days we should take a trip back to the "evil baby store" (that's what we call it )...she said ok, she would come with me, but didn't need to buy anything. I was like...well, maybe you could buy me something this time because I'm PG. And she just shrieked so loud....and I laughed.

we found out a few days before christmas, it was my dream to always tell them on christmas and I was so happy it worked out that way. I did the same for my inlaws too.... i got one pink and one blue porcelain bootie ornament from fortunoffs and wrapped it in a box, it was their last gift... we let them figure it out for themselves... it was priceless.

DH told them "you're going to be grandparents" while they were watching TV on the couch.

Their faces were priceless! They didn't know what to do or say.

When I was pregnant with my DD, we told my parents by buying them a stroller/car seat travel system (my mom was a bit confused at first - but then caught on)

With this pregnancy, we had DD in a "I'm going to be a big sister" t-shirt. Mom caught on right away

We gave them a baby picture frame with our due date and a ? inside.

Had my dog wear a "i'm going to be a big sister" dog t-shirt and when they came over for dinner, she ran over to them and licked them all over - they noticed right away and cried :)

We had one to Jamacia for out honeymoon and we took a test as soon as we got home. We had bought Jamacian coffee back for our parents and we put Grandparent bibs with a baby pin on the bags and gave them the coffee. It took they a few minutes to figure it out and boy were happy when they did.

When we told my parents we went over to my parents house (we said we were in the area) and we were talking to them about all different things. Since my father helped us paint the house when we moved it - my DH thought it would be a good idea to ask my father for help painting again. He said that three rooms needed to be repainted (they didn't think anything - cause they have known I wanted to change the colors that we originally did) so my dad asked which rooms. DH said the kitchen and my father nodded (he hates the color in there too) and then quickly DH said the BABY's room and the Living room. It took him about a good 5 seconds - and they yelled out BABY'S ROOM!

We did the same thing for both sets of panrents. I went and bought blue and pink stuffed bears, bottles, bibs, and all little pink and blue baby stuff and had it all in a gift bag. We brought it to them on Valetines Day and as soon as they saw what was in the big they freaked! Both dads looked like they were about to cry and our moms were just so excited.

We found out in December and both of our families were going to be together on Christmas Eve, so we decided to do it then. We bought Grandma bibs and wrapped them up. We told my mom and my MIL that we wanted them to open up a little gift we had gotten them. So we gave them their gifts at the same time. They both started screaming when they opened them. It was really cool!
