awake at night ...HELP
I need your suggestions. ALthough I think Sara has reflux and her belly hiurts this is a problem we have.
Sara wakes for her bottle about 3AM. We give it to her in a dark quiet room. After she drinks about half the bottle she falls asleep for a bit in my arms . ahh yes I am going back to sleep . WRONG!!!! Sara is up again for 2 hours . SHe is not screaming butsshe is up. SHe is crying and will scream if I let her. She also spits up after about an hour. SO now I am up from about 2:45 - 5AM everynight. I am at a loss. What would you do? Thank you.

Re: awake at night ...HELP
Sorry I can't be of much help because as you said in your other post, it sounds like she might have reflux and I have no experience with that... I just wanted to offer you hugs and I hope she goes back to sleep for you after the 3am bottle!

Are you putting her on her back? Did you try a wedge so she is not flat?

Re: awake at night ...HELP
Can you try keeping her awake, changing her diaper and having her finish the bottle? I know that when Julia doesn't finish her bottle - shes up an hour or two again hungry - so i make it a habit to try and keep her awake for as long as i can to make her drink it.
You can try bicycling her legs or the Myclicon drops for the gas. Ive tried both and they seem to help alittle.
If the problem persists - you may have to change her formula - i would talk to your peditrician if this persists.

Re: awake at night ...HELP
When that used to happen to us, we were told to try to keep him upright for 30 minutes after his feeding (helps prevent the spit up) and of course to encourage burping. I don't know how old she is, but once they reach eleven pounds (I think - could be thirteen) they are physically able to sleep through the night and she may just be doing this out of habit.
My DS is almost one, and sometimes he is awake at night but quiet so we just let him be. He eventually falls asleep again on his own.
