My birth story with pics
I woke up to go to the bathroom around 4:45 I laid back down and at around 4:55 I woke up with a pain in my back so I jumped up and felt a gush followed by another and then a trickle down my leg. I wasn’t sure if it was my water breaking but I thought it could be so I called my mom and as I was talking to her I got another pain in my back so I decided to call the doctor. The contractions were coming every six minutes. The doctor said to go to the hospital and they will check me to see if my water broke and they will call her to let her know. We got to the hospital around 6:00 and the contractions were getting worse. We filled out some paperwork and they took me in the back to give a urine sample and checked me and I was 4 cm’s and my water did break so they called the doctor and admitted me. I didn’t want to get an epidural but by now the pain is unbearable and I asked for one. They told me I had to wait for the doctor to come. The doctor got there a half an hour later and checked me and I was 6 cm’s. She said they had to wait for my blood work to come back before the anesthesiologist would give me an epidural. A half an hour they finally got the blood work but the doctor wanted to check me before calling him. I was fully dilated so I wasn’t able to get the epidural. I started pushing and the pain of the contractions was subsided by pushing. I couldn’t really get the hang of it until I felt the head coming down. The pain of the head coming out was unbelievable. After a 45 minutes of pushing and only 4 hours of back labor Christopher Louis Jr. was born weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 ½ inches long. We are so in love. I am amazed by the father DH is. He has never been around children and he is amazing with his son.
Thank you to everyone for everything and I look forward to seeing you on the parenting board and hope you all have as fast of delivery as I did.

thanks for sharing your story. Sorry you had back labor and weren't able to get the epi, but it sounds like it wasn't TOO long

Blood work for an epidural? I swear, I might leave LI to have this baby...the more stories I hear, the more giving birth on LI scares me! I never went through any of the things I'm hearing about when I gave birth the first time!
On a happy note:

Wow what a story! So the pain was unbelievable huh?  But you made it through and he's here now!

Jess, He's so cute!!! I can't get over how fast everything moved for you!
Now just out of curiosity, before you woke up in the middle of the night, did you feel labor coming on the day before? ie: the "burst" of energy, frequent poops, contractions, etc...
I keep looking for signs and I'm wondering if I could experience none of them and then just go into labor.

Nicole... I can;t believe how fast it went either. I felt nothing the night beforre except the baby was moving an extreme amout. More than I ever felt and sometimes it was painful. I can't wait for you to meet your little one!

yay! so glad you had a good labor.....I got an epi but it didn't have time to kick in (they didn't check me until after and then later they found it had come undone during labor! ) - wasn't it worth the wait since he came so fast??
I am so happy for you - he is so cute!!! congrats and see you on parenting!!!
