I only know a tiny bit but DH knows alot so if it's a quick question I can ask him... heaven forbid I should pull him away from his game right now!

PHPBB is an online forum software... kinda like what LIWEDDINGS uses for their CHAT board that we all post on.
You usually insert a PHPBB board onto a website to allow users to make topics, post messages, etc.
I don't know too much else about PHPBB beyond this though. I am not a very good web designer, as web development is not my specialty.
There are probably others on this board that know more about this topic. Sorry.

You might want to check with DMAG (who is FeliciaDP's DH). He would probably know a lot more about this topic than I do.
I know he has his own forum software on his website... but I am not sure if he uses PHPBB.

LOL... i know mucho about computers.... but don't ask me anything about web development.
Thats the one area that i suk at... and i really have no desire to get good at it either.

Yup, Rich is right. MY Dh is pretty savvy at this type of stuff, as he runs his own car website , etc.
I emailed my DH at work and this is what he sent me back:
phpBB is a forum software. Its the software I used to use for my website until I got VBulletin
It's a very flexible software package that is open sourced (ie. it's free). I am extremely familiar at modifiying phpBB code. I had my old board extremely modified from the base version.
I like using it a lot (more then VBulletin). But, Vbulletin is "prettier" for end users and a tiny bit easier for them to use. phpBB is very good for the board admins if they are "technically with it" because of it's flexibility.
All in all, it's a fine system. Pretty robust and updated frequently by the source team.
Jess, if you have any SPECIFIC questions please FM me, I'll pass them along to my DH (or he'll hop online later and try to help ya out)

ok. Fe, DMAG, Marymmons FH... you guys are a BIG help.
ok, i was wondering about a few things
a) how to make the configuration banner bigger (its currently set to 200x90 pixels)
b) how to switch the host for WinSCP. i was able to upload things using winscp for my OLD forum... but changed it and i dont know how to swithc it over to the new site
c) is there any way to add little features like "album" and cahnge the folder icons and such???
