Eletrician rate.. does this seem right?

ok, so we are in our new house now.. we knew the outlets in the house are corky, since the house is 55 yrs old... well.. FH is not too happy because the outlets doesnt support the use of his MANY computers... so we are in need of an electrician ASAP!

I called one local electrician, they quoted $115 for the first half an hour, $90 for each additional hour... does this sound right? What is the norm?

TIA!!

Replacing electrical outlets isn't too difficult. A good electrician should be able to do one every 10-15 minutes.

Where are you located? I have a great electrician I use who charges much less and does great work.

it sounds like you got too much power for a breaker.. older houses may be wired funny ( example, my BIL house has different rooms not even near each other tied into 1 breaker, heck, even my co-op is wired odd) the lines may be old and need to be updated. to change an outlet is easy...

MY BIL actually had to change the fuse panel to fix his problem which took a couple of hours to change
