Random work thought: How close are you to your co-workers

I thought about this on the drive home because through out this day if their were ever to be sexual harrassement charges in my office the whole office would be fired. We say things that are just completely inappropriate and so unprofessional. Plus the neck rubs. Our IT guy rubs my neck if I am stressed. I rub his back when he's sitting in my seat fixing my computer. Too many other little things are said between us and other co-workers that I just cant post

So on my drive home I thought wow my office is just so friendly and so open. We really just dont care what comes out of our mouths when we're together.

So I thought not many offices are like my office. How friendly are you with your co-workers??

The whole shop where I work is like that and I'm the only girl there! I'm probably worse than some of the guys We have alot of fun.

I was just having this discussion with someone in my office. There are about 80-90 people at my location:

10 I do not like at all
10 I really like a lot that I would consider friends.
20 that I don't know
Balance - They are nice people and I am friendly with them but not very close.

I dont think I got any work done today because we were goofing off so much. Calls were coming in and we didnt even flinch.

There was actually a sexual harrassment seminar a few months ago at my place so you really have to watch everything - even gestures.

But in my little group, we speak open and frankly with each other. Aside from this group where I am the only female, I do have 3 women I work with that I enjoy. Everyone else I could do without.

In my teacing profession, its mostly women and I am very close with a a small group of them.

now where I bartend, I am among a lot of men and believe me things are said and done there that spell sexual harassment. but i am one of them and am just as bad!!!
between the actual space behind the bar being very tight for three of us and running around back there when it is crowded, well lets just say I have been bumped and pushed in places I care not name. But it doesnt bother me...

Well, I'm close with at least one (DH and I work together).

I've been at my company for 8 years and have lots of friends there. We had two full tables of work people at our wedding.

But we're a really big company (there are over 1,000 people in my building alone) so not everyone knows everyone.

I teach the sexual harrassment classes, and all of the stuff you listed is a big no no for us.

Close enough to the ladies that we all (well most) go out together for Girls Night every few months.

The last 2 summers I have hosted girls night in my yard.....so close enough to feel comfortable having them at my home

We all chat about life & keep up on each other regularly.

Our office consists of 7 people, 6 girls and 1 guy...

We are very open, and very close. I love where I work, where we can goof around and scream across the office...yet we cna also work very hard and meet our goals, and be best friends. I love it!!

I am pretty close with them, 2 in particular. Both are guys with whom I worked at a previous co (and also used to work with one of their wives) and though we're good friends, nothing could ever be construed as sexual harassment.

My office too.

We are careful when the mucky muck's are around but on a typical "normal" day we are the dysfunctional bunch

One of my jobs is as an ESL teacher in an office with three other teachers and a secretary (we are in the public library but paid by the school). My mom is my boss so that there makes it a close-knit group.

My other job is working for the library itself and that is not as close as with the teachers. Some of the people are nice, but not everyone is cozy.

When I worked in the city I was very close with my coworkers. We were together on 9/11 and during the blackout. We went to numerous happy hours together and in a way "grew up" together. We all started as junior level early 20-somethings and climbed the ranks and settled down. Got married and left the industry

I am also the only girl in my office full of men We all used to work at the same company and my current boss open his own Mortgage Firm and we went with him.. we are 1 big family and we say things that are iinappropriate all day but it makes the day go by faster

I'm friendly with almost everyone (no physical touching though). There is one person that I'll socialize outside of work.

I've always kept work & personal separate. I think it came from my event coordinating days. I would see people drinking & laughing with celebrities/politicians, etc and then have to deal with the fall-out the next day. In the end, I never forget I'm with work people even if we're outside of the office. Also being in HR makes me privvy to some confidential information that I can't share but that people try to find out. I have to watch any comments I make.

us too and we love it! It causes a problem though when the boss walks in on a ridiculous conversation like this afternoon. Oops!
