Cell phones in Mexico and calling home from there
Does anyone know if Cingular works there? Is it super expensive to call the US? I wonder if I should just get a phone card to call home.
What did everyone else do?

When we went to Mexico we got a phone card. They sell them in the gift shops however you need to use a special phone for it which is located outside some of the hotels. I found it easy to use.

No cingular service wont work there,, if it does, it would be very spotty. My tmobil and verizon service worked well.. U can also try CancunValet.. ( are u going to cancun?) they are very big there with there cell phone rentals..its 5 bucks a day to have the phone but that also includes about 8 free minutes. If you dont use the 8 minutes U still have to pay the 5 bucks a day. If you go over, it was like 60 cents a minute. No other hidden costs. The drop the phone off at your hotel and u just leave it there when u check out. OR, you can always buy a phone card. Whatever u do, DONT use the hotel phone. Very expensive

Our Verizon cell phones worked but were expensive. We used the calling cards instead.
