The NYPD officer killed in Brooklyn yesterday...
Did anyone else read this in Newsday today? It's so scary...that poor man and his family. He leaves behind a 5 month old and a first grader...the first grader is a student at Rich's school. When he got to work this morning, the front of the school/parking lot was mobbed w/ reporters. How sad.
I can't believe he's the first officer killed in the line of duty this year...it's nearly December! I think that says a lot about our improved NYPD. They're all heroes.

I can't get over that he was SHOT IN THE HEART and was still able to pursue the guy. I told DH that I could be shot in the toe and not be able to move. What a hero. My heart goes out to his family.

It makes me sick to my stomach to hear this. My brother is a cop, has been for about 15 years, and used to be in Brooklyn. The lack of respect that people have for police officers - regular people who risk their lives DAILY for our benefit - just makes me want to vomit.

He's on TV right now - channel 7 news...footage from the arrest.
He's crying, saying he's sorry....hmmm, sorry that he destroyed a family (maybe 2- they're investigating the other off-duty officer's death last week)....sorry that he deliberately pulled over so the cops could pull up, then fired his gun 5 TIMES!?
I can't believe people.

I just finished reading the article on line. he didnt even realize he was shot. He was just doing his job and protecting the streets.
That guy is sorry. Sorry for what, for getting caught 
So many friends of mine that I have known since I was 5 are cops and it makes me feel safer to know they are on the streets of NY protecting my friends and family. Then to read a story about this makes me so mad. I hope this guy meets a nice boyfriend in prison

Its so sad and its news like that, gets me so scared because my FH is a cop in Brooklyn(same area) and just worries me so much.
I feel terrible for that family and their loss. He also had a vest on that didnt help 
prayers for the family

I don't understand why the reporters need to stalk the elementary school where his daughter goes...
Rich said that when he left for lunch, the reporters pounced. He doesn't even know the poor girl!!!

That's disgusting!! I'm sorry- report on the story- but what are you goign to get from a little girl. What could the possible report? Daughter of Slaid Cop Is Sad?? Misses Dad??? come on...
She just lost her dad, and so publically. This is going to be one of the hardest times of her life. Let her life maintain some resemblence of normalacy.

The little girl isn't in school today - the press is trying to get info out of the teachers/staff. Of couse, they were directed to say no comment, or defer questions to the superintendant. And you're right - it IS disgusting.

Either way its terrible. There is no respect for heroes anymore- and this man clearly was a hero.

Wow, they just said on Channel 7 news that the guy accused of killing the officer yesterday is the same guy who shot the cop last week when he was mugging him on his way home. The one where when he realized he was mugging a cop said "Now I have to kill you"
It's so scary. My brother is a police officer in a pretty rough section of Brooklyn. My heart stops everytime they have one of these stories on the news.

It is scary... I am from a family of cops. My dad was a cop in brooklyn- my bf is a cop... every night you pray and worry that they return home safe....
