Question for the Teachers (or anyone) about receiving gifts from students?
Do you send thank you notes for all of your gifts? I received both presents and candy gifts? Do I/should I send a thank you note for candy also? Thanks for your help!!

I would (not a teacher, so maybe I'm wrong) since it might send a message to the kids about how you should always thank a gift with a note.

Not a teacher here - but I consider my gifts to the teachers as a thank you. I dont' think a thank you for a thank you is necessary.

See - one of the other guidance counselors in my office feels the same as you do. She calls the family to say thanks, but doesn't send a formal thank you. I realize that you are sending thanks for a thanks to you, but I still think it sends a nice message. Just didn't know if I should do it for a little box of truffles for example. I think I will though!

I think it's a nice to do but not necessary. If you are thanking people a box of truffles also merits a thank you.
Sorry to hijack but so I know I'm not cheaping out, I usually give the daycare teachers a $50 gc to the head teacher & $25 gc to the assistants. This year - since I switched daycares 2 months ago, I only gave $25 gc to the head teachers & $15 to the assistants. Is that ok?

Re: Question for the Teachers (or anyone) about receiving gifts from students?
I'm the OCD one, so I hand all children a thank you, no matter the size of the gift. The joys of having 28 children is writers cramp! But the parents all went in on a group gift and I received individual gifts as well. I'm not rushing to get them done, but I think it shows the parents that I appreciate the thought.

Thanks for posting this. I wasnt sure whether the gift was the thank you. I wrote little notes anyway. It wasnt a big deal, I only got a few gifts

I'm not a teacher - but I direct a Children's Choir.
I usually do a big thank you in my monthly letter home to my choir kids since I get some gifts and usually a big gift as well.
