A basement and our own mailbox! We have one of those cluster boxes and I hate that!

Re: What is one thing you wish the home you bought had?
We bought our house because it had everything we were looking for: 4Br, 3 full baths, dining room, fireplace, large yard, etc. However, its a high-ranch. I wish we had the bedrooms on a another story. And we do have window AC units, but central AC would be nice.
ETA: we have no basement or attic, having those for storage would be a big plus!

Catherdral ceilings.
We have cathedral ceilings in our living room and dining room. What a PITA! It drives me nuts when a spider or some other bug is up there out of my reach.
Plus in the winter this house is a nightmare to heat, it all rises and hangs out up there. I should climb up a ladder and sit up there all day.
ETA: I wish this house had a basement or at least a kitchen pantry. We have almost no storage areas. The crawl space creeps me out.
I would have really liked a full bath off the master bedroom, right now we have a full bath up by the bedrooms and a half bath in our den.
Central air would be nice.

a dining room.
my wife wants to expand eventually once both cars are paid off so this can be corrected down the road
You have a ranch right? My best friend took the small room next to the bathroom and made that a dinning room... Its nice. They also have an amazing Kitchen.

Yes I have the Ranch with the second full bathroom upstairs. That small bedroom could very well indeed be a dining room.
Thats the backup plan.

Re: What is one thing you wish the home you bought had?
for us its a garage. Dh plans to build a detached one sometime in the near future...then maybe his power tools won't be hanging out in my living room He has a thing about putting the tools back in the basement if he plans to use then again anytime in the next month or so. Right now I have a paslode framing gun & a few hand tools next to the couch. Oh so trashy-thanks DH.

I wish we had the TWO fireplaces that were original to the house but previous owner (who was only the 2nd owner and bought to flip) ripped out!

I definatly agree. I love my cathedral ceilings as for some reason it really makes the rooms feel bigger but when a spider is up there out of my reach AAAAAHHHHHH....once in a while we get a cob web by the vent and I have to have hubby get up there and that alone is a hassle and an accident waiting to happen.
The A/C as well is a PITA because we have central air and it wont shut automatically unless the room reaches the temp we want. Well with the high ceilings it takes forever for the air to reach that high and cool off the entire rooms so it works even longer and harder.
I love them but what a PITA.

Re: What is one thing you wish the home you bought had?
We have a colonial and I wished it had a two story entry way and a bigger master bath. Our master bath is very small, hardly a master bath in my opinion but it works.

I wish it was a house instead of an apartment...but, well, next time!
Ditto, but I won't complain too much. I love it. But I wish it had a washer/dryer in it (laundry room is my exercise since we're on the 4th floor, no elevator) or another bedroom.
