What do I need to know before I call up for a home insurance quote?

amount of replacement cost- that will be on your appraisal
-mortgage amount
-year built
-just basic features about the house- basement, anything detached, garage?
amount of deductible
amount of liablilty
(I work for an insurance company- if you want me to quote for you, FM me and i'll let you know everything you will need for the quote)

You should also be familiar with your local fire department. Where the closest FD is located. How many feet is your nearest hydrant.
If you have a dog... that may increase your premium. If you have a pool... definitely.
They will also run your credit... so if you have average credit... your premium may go up as well.

definately security systems - we just had ours installed and so I called up our insurance co and so they are giving us back money.
