US travel opinions in October please! UPDATED!
I want someplace sunny in the US, as we haven't done much traveling here.
I'd like a nice spa and DH always wants something to do, he mentioned Texas, but doesn't know what to do there!!!
Anyone been to Arizona? Someone sent me a great spa, but it seems booked for my week....
Any help would be great!

UPDATE
We booked the Biltmore Hotel in Scottsdale AZ!!! It is so beautiful, and a little expensive, but we deserve it!!!!! DH has been crazy these past few weeks!!!

I lived in AZ for 5 yrs. I wuld fly into Sky Harbor in Phoenix-not sure how much you want to spend on a hotel but there are plenty of nice ones especially in Scottsdale. Rent a car at the airport. Check out Phoenix and Scottsdale for a couple of days then head North. Drive to Sedona for a day or two and then teh grand Canyon(about 3 hrs to sedona and another hr to GC)October is one of teh best months there. The nights are warm and balmy-You will LOVE it!

Arizona: Scottsdale and like melijane said, going up to Sedona/Flagstaff/Grand Canyon?
California: San Francisco, LA, Santa Barbara, Catalina, San Diego - tons of options in that state?
Seattle/Vancouver?
Chicago?
Vermont for foliage?

We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore in April. We absolutely loved it!
They have lots of conferences there, so be prepared for that. If you're into Frank Lloyd Wright at all, I highly recommend a visit to Taliesin West in Scottsdale. The hotel is designed in his style (by a student I think), so there are lots of connections between the two.
The LA Lakers were staying at the hotel while we were there.

Definintely go to Sedona - it is absolutely beautiful! You picked a good time to go. September can still be fairly hot in Scottsdale, but October is gorgeous!!
