An actual firm?
A friend giving you a discounted rate?
And... do accountants charge you more if you own a house or not? Or if you decide to file separately instead of joint?
I go to HR Block, and we don't own a home.

I used to pay with a couple of bottles of wine, a family friend used to do them. But this year we have to go to someone new - so I have no idea

The accountants I work for seem to charge anywhere from $30 (for like, a clients child) to upwards of $400. But it depends a lot upon what type of paperwork they need to file. I believe that is generally how it is calculated (how many schedules, etc.)

I work fo accoutants and it depends on how involved the process is... Before I started here I always thought everyone's was easy boy was I wrong

We got to a friend and it is less than $200 for sure, but I know he charges different people differently. He did our taxes last year both as filing jointly and filing seperately and filed the way it worked out better for us.
I used to do my own, but DH has to itemize and to us it is worth paying so we don't miss anything, and I don't have to spend all that time researching how to do it correctly.

hes an accountant, does work on the side. my parents have been goin w/him for like 20 years...i do not own a house
