OK, I just saw a story on Dateline last night and they interviewed the animal rescue team.
The rescue teams were saying that although they have found some dead animals, they are finding MANY that are still alive! Right now, there are over 1,000 in a temporary shelter waiting to be claimed.
They said that they were very surprised because they didn't expect to find very many alive, but the majority ARE alive.

The INternation Fund For Animal Welfare gives daily updates on their rescue missions: last week they rescued a 300 lb. pot belly pig (along with other animals, a lovebird, cats and dogs...)

One of the entries talks about a black male chow swimming in the waters, when the rescue boat approached, he turned and swam away towards a home...the boat followed him. Turns out his mate, a female chow was stuck inside the home. Animals just amaze me.

That is just amazing. And yet people still say animals have no souls.
I hope they are successful in rescuing/reuniting/fostering those pets. Such a horrible thing.

I just showed DH , he is so sad right now too.
I def say donate to the animal shelters, we did- "people" have received "a lot" of donations, its time for the animals too!

They had a show on Animal Planet channel of all the rescues. They even have a horse too.

I hope who ever took thos sad sad pictures also helped the poor animals. I saw 3 pics and couldnt stop crying, so thats it for me!
