False positive w/OPKs?
I've been using OPKs for the past 6 months and pretty much O the same CD every month.
I was wondering how accurate these tests are...could I be getting a positive, but not actually O?
Thanks.

Re: False positive w/OPKs?
Please correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe the OPK's detect a rise in LH which indicates that you are about to O within 12 -36 hours, but do not actually confirm O. You can have an LH surge, but not actually ovulate. The only way I know of to actually confirm that you ovulated is either temping or going for a progesterone test.

Re: False positive w/OPKs?
Thanks...that does help. So, even if my LH levels rise...I still may not be Ovulating.

Re: False positive w/OPKs?
Yes OPKS can never tell you if your ovulating or not. Only Bloodwork and a clear temp rise can tell you if you have actually ovulated...Thats why they arent a very reliable sourse, but they can help.

Re: False positive w/OPKs?
I don't temp, but I think I may start if I don't get a BFP this month.
Thanks.
