Today's Kiddie Kandids experience....blech...
I took Katie to KK today at 11am...well...4 1/2 hrs later we left with noooothing. They got 3 or 4 pics of her actually looking at the camera. The rest of the time the guy was making weird noises and not getting her attention at all. She wouldnt even smile and this is one of the "smilest" babies I've ever seen. He was trying to get her belly pic and stuffed her little body behind the platform and pinched her foot and she was hysterical. They kept making me come back for another "appointment" so I had to keep walking around the store...during which time Katie was all smiles. But as soon as he ghot her and started making noises she was just looking at him like "are you kidding?"
I'm exhausted...she's exhausted...and we left with nothing. I'm so disappointed. But I wasn't paying for the 4 pics when I take better ones myself.

I went to the one in Commack. I was so disappointed. Not to mention being in BRU for over 4 hrs was not much fun.

Thats so funny that you say that...Noah is just like that!!! I never really made the connection! He is really smiley for us and the girls from babygroup who he sees most days, but with strangers he will not smile! Even if you offer him money!
MrsJ...that sounds like a total freakshow. Who pinches a baby's foot??? Honestly!

I would have left after an hour I think. Our first try was a disaster too, but it was at sears. She is 7 months and I still haven't gotten up the nerve to try again!

Yikes, I'm SO sorry you had a bad experience. I've never been to the Commack one, though I feel whoever your photographer is has a HUGE effect on the outcome of your pictures. The guy I had yesterday at Bohemia was just incredible with Christopher and it shows in the shots. If you ever decide to brave the store again (though I think you'd have MUCH more beautiful shots from Barbara! ), don't be afraid to ask for a different photographer if you're not happy with your current one. Like lo13lo13 said, some people just have a knack for taking pictures while others don't. My friend used to work at KK and she took a lot of Christopher's pictures. While they always came out OKAY, I was never thrilled and I realized it was more HER than anything else; always in a rush even if it was dead in there, thought being obnoxiously loud was the way to get the kids to smile, and just didn't set the props up in a way that they looked nice, as silly as that sounds. Sorry again!

Kristin you're SO right - they were making all these obscenely loud noises and just freaking Katie out. When I would bend down and say "Hi baby" she would smile right away but they kept up with yelling in her face and squeezing some loud duck in her face. She was just scared too I think. I know that stuff works for the older babies (I was watching it with a couple of toddlers and it worked) but with an little 10 wk old it just didn't work!
I think I'll put KK on hold for a while. I may try Sears since they are close to me. But I'm going to give it a shot myself and maybe Barb can take some

How about Thursday (weather permitting). There's a playground we can go to that will occupy my kids while I take pictures of yours

That sounds perfect. Can you FM me and let me know where? I'll give you my # too incase we need to cancel and if it's 6:30 my Dh should be home so I can bring him and he can help us watch the kids.

Emily also gets shy in front of strangers.
Seriously some of the photographers just go crazy trying to entertain the baby. This happened to us our last time too. The photographers (this was at target mind you) were all young girls and were just oggling over a baby -- and they scared the crappola out of Emily. Next time I'm just going to say listen, she's my baby, you don't have to worry about entertaining her -- just shoot the pics and I'll make her smile!
