So, I just learned today, that my dad...
is half-owner of a 22 carat naturally made ruby and diamond ring that is up for auction at Christy's.  And when asked why it is not on my finger...he said I'll never be able to afford it! I need to get my hands on this ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has the picture in a catalog at home, I am going to post it when I get to see it!

His bestfriend is a gemologist and works for the IGA or whatever that gemological institute is, and he told me that like ten years ago, they bought the ruby loose from somewhere overseas and had it set into a ring. It's natural, whereas, supposedly, most to all rubies these days are manmade. Go figure! I am DYING to see this ring! It's at Christie's in London or somewhere.

No, actually, my dad is a science professor. He teaches geology and has an interest in gems and whatnot, but I had no idea he owned half of this stone! He said he just forgot about it. They recently put it up for auction.
