Parents of babies w/ acid reflux

DD's Ped prescribed Axid today at her 3 month check. I just thought we should switch formula to gentlease or good start with the protiens partially broken down because she is so gassy and uncomfortable during feedings. After I told the Ped her symptoms, she said she may have reflux. DD rarely spits up but is very uncomfortable during most, but not all, of her feedings - crying, arching her back, bringing her knees to her chest, sucking vigorously for a few seconds and then crying, forceful burps that sometimes make her cry, wanting to eat just 3-4 ounces at a feeding. I hate medicating her, but maybe I should try it if it will help. DH doesn't want to give her the meds because he doesn't think her eating is as bad as I do. Any advice?

Sounds just like Kevin but he spit up ALOT.

He was on Axid for about 4 months. It helped alot and although he still refluxes occassionally, he's much better.

When feeding, try to keep her as upright as possible and hold her upright for atleast 20 min. after each feeding. It will help keep the formula and acids down in her belly.

hannah is on axid since week 8. it has helped alot, however, she still has reflux episodes and is a very fussy eater. i wouild try the axid. how much are you giving and how often?

Sounds like Katie, too, excpet she also spit up all the time. I would try it, the zantac helped Katie a lot.

My baby had Severe Acid Reflux and was on Enfamil AR which helped- Also she was on prilosec she eventually grew out of the reflux .Once in a while she still gets it. Once the reflux got better she went off the prilosec. At that time The Gastro Doc told me i could give her Maalox which really helped. I gave her 1/2 teaspoon before each meal. Also make sure you really warm the bottle..if it's to cold it makes the reflux worse. FM me if you want additional information. Hope this helped

I think his 3 month checkup is when we started our little guy on Zantac b/c of everything you were saying. It was SO hard to get him to drink his bottle even though he was hungry. It really helped. When he got a little bigger, he needed a little more of it.
