Post Partum/Depression

Did anyone have a hard time with this? It hit me somewhat hard in July/August after we had the Tornado damage from Hurricane Dennis and my husband deployed. I was able to self medicate somewhat by staying super busy, avoiding inlaw stress, going on tons of walks with Jack and trips to the beach and gym with him. My husband came back I got somewhat off my routine that helped me survive the deployment since naturally he was back and winter was now upon us. Well once again we are days from our next deployment. I'm sick with a Sinus infection and UTI, Jack has a double ear infection, my Escape has a transmission issue and I'm completely out of any routine because I just had my MIL down for a visit and I just feel so down and can cry at a drop of a hat. I know Dh is somewhat freaked out since he is leaving shortly and naturally he blames himself for slacking...etc and in the middle of all this we are once again redoying Wills and Guardianship.
Now if it's PostPartum I don't know...I also heard Yasmin can cause depression in some people (hence why Yaz is coming out on the market in a few weeks) and I started on Yasmin when things started so who knows if its that.
Honestly my care for my son isn't suffering at all, even sick and cutting teeth he is a joy to take care of. But my home is as well as myself because when I get stressed I don't feel like eating and the thought of another pregnancy right now terrfies me.
Well basically I'm spilling my guts to see if anyone else is in the same boat or was and what to do. I truely know that in another month it will be warm enough to take him out on walks, trips to the beach.. etc and I'll be somewhat ok again. But I'm reaching the point that I'm not sure if just taking something might make a huge difference, or switching my pill... that would be easy.

I basically wrote this off as being "homesick" even though I haven't been on the island since 2002-2003. I figured maybe things felt different now that I had my son. Also this past family visit could have set me off again too..

Well it's late and I'm tired and just took some nyquil so hopefully this makes some sense to someone.

I'm planning on discussing this with my doc this week since I need to take Jack back for a recheck this week and we see the same family doctor.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon All of the issues you listed could be related to PPD.... You DH's deployments were probably stressful before Jack and understandably (is that word???)even more so with the baby. I think the important thing is that you have identified that something is not right and will talk to your doctor about it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I couldn't agree with Stephanie more. I didn't experience PPD & don't have any experience with it. Whether this PPD or not - it sounds like some form of depression.

Laurie - You have a lot on your plate. I can't imagine going through redeployment, hurricanes or raising a newborn while being homesick. I'm glad you posted and that you're talking to your doctor about this.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
