Moving Questions - Repost from NFR
1. What kind of insurance did you take out on the move? Did you just take the basic $.60/pound or did you get additional insurance?
2. How much do you tip movers?
We are moving to Raleigh, NC. Thanks.

Re: Moving Questions - Repost from NFR
This information probably won't help you since I am doing a local move... but i'll say anyways.
My mover (who used before and recommend)... has a standard $5000 in insurance thats included in their hourly fee.
I decided to pay an extra fee to have this increased to $10,000. I have two expensive plasma TVs and one LCD TV and I wanted to make sure I had adequate coverage.
I usually tip $30 a man... I might do more depending... but i have no idea what to tip an interstate move.

When we moved to Florida, we didn't pay the extra because we moved our electronics ourselves. We tipped them $20.

I would look into insuring any expensive pieces separately. We have a plasma and a terranium (sp?) that are more than the insurance rate they gave us per piece so we insured them separately.
As for tipping, I gave them $25 each. They packed my house too - I think I was cheap! Oops! I also bought them lunch.
