actually the egg does implant, because it gives off hcg...but it doesn't implant properly. It's just not meant to be....the chromosomes could be off....or the lining for implantation wasn't suitable. They say if you have ever been late for AF , you might have had a chemical...but most people wouldn't know because, they don't usually test...early when they aren't ttc. Another thing I read,is that 50% of all pregnancies end in a chemical...now that's depressing. In other words...fertilizing an egg...isn't always the problem, ....it's all the other things that have to be going well, to get that pregnancy to stick.

My Dr stated a Chemical PG usually ends BEFORE implantation but the egg is fertilized. I know Kathy has had 3 , maybe she can advise what her Dr's told her.
I saw this on a website I use
"A chemical pregnancy is the clinical term for a pregnancy that is confirmed by a pregnancy test, but not by clinical signs, and is lost before clinical signs can be observed through means such as an ultrasound. The pregnancy test is often "faintly" positive or blood hCg levels are low. It is believed that fertilization occurs, but that the egg never implants"
BUT...I also read this
"A chemical pregnancy can produce a temporary positive result on a pregnancy test. Sometimes an early pregnancy is detected - followed by negative test results. A chemical pregnancy means implantation takes place (hCG is produced for a short time) followed by a miscarriage (generally, before any other pregnancy symptoms are detected).

SO it seems to be debatable whether implantation occurs or not, your body can produce some HCG before implantation.

basically, the egg implants and your body starts to produce the HCG hormone (which then gives you - or me in this case - a BFP pregnancy test), but shortly after implantation the egg dies. Once your HCG levels go back down you get AF. After a;; 3 of my chemicals, my AF happened to be REALLY really bad (in every way it can be bad) after each chemical. There are a lot of diff reasons for a chemical PG, you can find a lot of helpful info online if you Google "chemical pregnancy" (with the quotes).

Thank you! I'm excited to move on to testing in my next cycle. So if AF shows this wk end (right on schedule) then I can start testing next week - I'm happy about that (yes, I'd be happier if AF never came...)
