Lasik eye surgery?
My job has a promotion that I can get 25% off Lasik surgery, so the cost would be $3000. I always thought about it, but was hesitant. Is this a good price? Has anyone had any complications? I already know I will not do it if I am not a candidate for Lasik and need the more invasive PRK...

Re: Lasik eye surgery?
I would say that is pretty good price- but, I think it depends on where you are having it done. If it's a really good price, but the place itself doesn't have the experience or what not, well, obviously, it wouldn't be worth it.
I only personally know one person who has had problems - and it's been pretty bad. It's my boss and he had it done a couple of years ago and it's been nothing but a headache for him (literally -he always gets headaches from it now.) BUT, from what I understand, it was because they never should have done the surgery on him given some issues he had with his eye b/f hard. And now it has just made it awful. He still can't see right out of one eye even with glasses on. I don't know exactly what the problem was, but I think it had something to do with a weak muscle or something.
Anyone else I know who has had it has had great luck. Make sure the Dr. checks thoroughly that you are a candidate. My best friend wanted to get it soo bad, but after looking at her eyes, they told her b/c her cornea was too thin, they couldn't do it.
Good luck!

Re: Lasik eye surgery?
It depends on what doctors accept this. You def. want to go to the BEST of the BEST for this. I had an amazing doctor and the cost was $5500. Worth every penny!

Re: Lasik eye surgery?
I would find out if hte Dr's you are considering will accept the discount. I would not go to a Dr I wasn't comfortable with to save 1k.
Then I'd find out which surgery you are eligible for and get a second opinion, just to be sure.
Good luck!

Really? What type of problems? Do you mind sharing where he had it done?
I would never compromise the safety of my eye for $$, but I where I work is affiliated with a major hospital where research has been done on eye treatments and Lasik developments...

Re: Lasik eye surgery?
Hi..I'm new here-
I had lasik done back in december, and I had TERRIBLE vision before (I was -7 in one eye, and -6.5 in the other.). I am now 20/15 in both eyes, and the only problem I have is occasional dryness, which is expected.
For me, it was a great decision, but the doctor that did it on me was a family friend. As for the price, that sounds like a great price, but only if you trust the doctor as the above posters have mentioned
