Went for prenatal photos today

DH and I went to Glamour Shots today to have some PG photos taken. We really did not want to pay a fortune to have a few photos taken, but wanted a couple, of professional quality for us to enjoy.

Well, they tried everything under the sun to sell us packages that included wallets, and everything else. Give me a break -- who in the world would we be handing these out to???

After we had chosen a couple of poses we liked, the girl told us the total was $1425

Well, we had to keep telling her to take stuff out of the package because we weren't spending that much. We ended up getting 3 different poses -- mostly 5x7 and we got 2 free 8x10 pics using the coupon posted on here a few weeks ago, plus we got another free one because we filled out a credit application.

The one thing I was disappointed about was that there was a really cute pic of me draped in a white thing and my bare belly showing with DH's hands on top of my belly and mine underneath. Of course I have Irish white skin with a few stretch marks that have developed in the last few weeks so the pic looked awful!! They offered to touch it up for us and with the touch-up it looked like a model's skin. The catch? $150 to do that!!! What really made me angry was that if they were touching up the face, it was only $75, which I was willing to pay. But because it was the belly, they called it "extensive" so the price was doubled. What exactly were they trying to say about my buddah belly??? Now, if a person were having head shots done, and their face took up the whole photo, it would still be $75, but for the Buddah -- cha ching...$150!!! Needless to say, DH and I passed on that. We will just load my belly up with face makeup and take our own belly shots here at home.

The girl just kept giving us a total price and not really telling us what we were getting. She even tried to sell us a proof sheet for $100 saying that it was the only way to guarantee that the pics would still be in their computer 2 years from now in case we want to order more pics at a later date. Ummm, I think I'll get everything I need today, thank you.

When all was said and done, after the coupons and discounts, we spent $225 (we did pay for the face touch up in a portrait of just me), and we'll have some really nice photos -- I think. We'll see. I'll post them when we get them.

If anybody is planning to go to Glamour Shots, definately bring the coupon, but be prepared for them to try to s*cker you into spending $$$$$. You will have to be firm in telling them to keep cutting stuff out if you want to keep the price down.

I agree with you Catherine! I did sexy pics for DH for our 1 yr anniversary and when they tell you the total package you want to pee yourself. Who needs wallet size pics of me nekkid behind a guitar!!

I ended up getting 6 of th 9 shots in 8 x 10. In a few days they will call you with a "special offer" of 3 sheets for $75 (or around that) and that's how I got my extra 3.

There is ALWAYS an online coupon floating around if you google search Glamour shots coupon or check those sites with all the coupons for various things.

Hope you post them! Let me know if you get that "special offer" in a few days...I think it was 3 days later they called.

And they are right about the proofs....I got another call months down the road for reprints but passed.

You know I think it was either date line, night line or 20/20 one of those shows that blew glamour shots out of the water, showing under camera how they rip you off bigtime, exactly what you went through. Glamour shots has been sued a lot too. They get you in with the coupons but in the end you still wind up paying a lot. I wonder if Sears is better to do this without the scam?

there is NO scam at Glamour Shots....yes the coupons reel you in, but if you flat out tell them you just want a few reprints, they oblige. Obviously the more you buy, the cheaper it becomes. ANY photo studio will do this to you.....they did it to me at Penneys!

You just have to be firm and tell them what you want....I told them at Glamour Shots that I just wanted 8 x 10's of a few shots. A few days later they called with a promotion for 3 more sheets.

I saw the expose on Glamour shots that Fox5 did some time ago. The prices made me And I am too easy, I'm not good at saying no and I know I could never go there because I'd be suckered in.

In any case, I am glad you got what you want. I can't wait to see them!

I can't wait to see them!! I know their work because I used to compete in Pageants and used them all the time. You just have to be sturn and keep saying no. It's a business.

And also, professional photos are always pricey no matter where you go. We all know that from our weddings
