Whats the going rate for mothers helpers?
My cousins daughter is 13, she's had experience babysitting older kids (ages4-10) and has had experience with my kids when theyre over, shes great with kids. Now this week at summer camp, she was in the babysitting room, and the moms LOVED her. several of the kids were attached to her (It was ages 3 and under), shes mature, responsible and great with kids. A few moms asked for her ph# to babysit.
She has no idea what to ask for or what the rate is. Im not sure either, since Im sure it depends on whether the parent stays home (Which im sure is the case) while she entertains the kids. or whether they run out while shes' with older toddlers ?
I would think $5-$7 an hour for one child, and maybe a couple of bucks more for two (but not double) ? I know its higher for older babysitters (18yr olds, etc.).
What have you ladies heard is the going rate for mothers helpers around 13-14yrs old ? thanks!
(and she lives in smithtown if anyone is interested! )

Re: Whats the going rate for mothers helpers?
I know when I babysat at the age of 16 (9 years ago ) I got $6/hr for 3 kids.
I would say since she is so young, $6 for one child, 7 or 8 for two or more.
ETS: Parents were not at home when I babysat.

I'd say 7 or 8 an hour is fine. I am going to pay my 18 yr. old cousin 10 an hour just for Ava.
