Re: Dr. Micheline Chu (NSUH)

Dr. Chu is a reproductive endocrinologist, which means she is an ob/gyn who then specialized in reproduction...and had to take 3 extra years of schooling and had to pass specialized exams.

Re's do not deliver babies though., not because they aren't trained to but because they don't focus on that. They focus on assisted reproductive treatments only. If you conceive while under her care, you will probably continue with her, until you reach about the 8 week of pregnancy. Then you will be released to an ob/gyn.

Currently Dr. Chu is my Re.

Personally I have heard wonderful things about both hospitals for labor and delivery.

Thanks Michele!!! Do I shouldn't tell my gyn I made an appointment with a specialist right? I'm seeing my gyn tomorrow.
How do you like Dr. Chu? I know she is young but very knowledgeable but that is good cause she will probably work extra hard on her patients!

Re: Dr. Micheline Chu (NSUH)

I sent you a fm....

If your insurance doesn't require referrals than it's really up to you what you want to tell your ob/gyn. If your ob/gyn is supportive he/she will encourage you to see a RE.

Dr. Chu, is young and thorough. I find her to be confident and informative. I think you will be happy with your decision to see her.

Re: Dr. Micheline Chu (NSUH)

Dr. Chu is my current RE. She is young, and shes very easy to read , but I love her. I find her great at explaining things and never rushes me ...

Also, Dr Chu practices out of Huntington Hospital Womens Center and told me you can tranfer there and that she often sees a lot of her RE patients into the 2nd trimester or reccomnds someone if you want that she feels will be able to handle your case. She was very explicit in telling me that she doesnt believe in just throwing you back to your OB once they help you get PG and I LIKED that!

Yes I was going to ask where you are seeing her. Because I believe that she has sme hours at the center for human reproduction as an RE but alos had hours at the womens health center as an OB/GYN.
