Ethnic Recipes?
Elbee's mention of Macaroni & Peas got me thinking about what we our families make that is totally ethnic - like stuff you didn't realize other people didn't eat until you were older
For me, one was definitely macaroni & peas. anyone else? Please feel free to share recipes!

We make so many things that I guess are considered "ethnic" or at least specific to my family. These are things we either eat regularly or at every holiday's. Like you can count on one or more things to be at every holiday or served at least once a week in my house.
regularly: macaroni & peas beans and macaroni (cannelinni beans with garlic and spaghetti) steak pizzaola fried meatball sandwiches Linguini w/ clam sauce Linguini with seafood in a garlic wine sauce Asparagus Frittatta on Semolina Bread Potatoes and Eggs on Semolina Bread Spaghetti Aia Olio (spaghetti w/ garlic & oil - usually made around midnight when you are playing cards)
holiday's: homemade manicotti fish salad (shrimp, octopus, calamari, scuingilli) baccala Tortelinni Alfredo Stuffed Breast of Veal Antipasti Platters (meats, cheeses, oilves, roasted peppers, etc ...) Ginny Chicken (LOL) - chicken pieces baked with tons of oil, lemon, garlic and parsley.

Elbee, wanna start the Delmonte club?
Almost everything you listed is made at our house as well! I LOOOOVE Pizzaola! It's so funny...nearly ever recipe starts with "add two small cans of Delmonte..."
My mom usually makes spaghetti with garlic and oil with breaded pork chops or veal cutlets! So good!

Spaghetti aglio e olio was grandpa's specialty. It was soooo garlicky! I loved it! I don't know if it's traditional for it to be a cold tomato-based sauce, but his was cold (or not hot anyway). Maybe that's the Sicilian version.
My mom's family heritage is Irish, so she didn't cook too many traditional Italian dishes on a regular basis except for sauce that she made on Sundays sometimes (my Dad's mom taught her how to cook Italian).
On special occassions, it was feast of the 7 fishes, also stuffed artichokes, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant parm, fried zucchini with garlic and olive oil on spaghetti, homemade manicotti, things like that.
We had the traditional stuff more often when we went to visit my grandparents, like peas and macaroni, frittatas, polpo salad (blech!), etc.
