LAGUNA BEACH

I am sitting here with DH(against his will) watching Laguna and we are having a bit of a debate and so here I am wondering if I am wrong...

What the heck is the deal with this show? Where are these kids parents? I mean - real world is one thing but, these kids are in HIGH SCHOOL...what are they 17 at most? And here they are flying to cabo one weekend, san diego the next - alone and unsupervised...drinking etc. their whole lives appear to revolve around boys and hooking up, do they go to school?

I mean - this show is supposed to be real - would you EVER let your kids do this?

DH is trying to tell me its not as unusual a lifestyle as I am making it out to be

good F*cking point, im not sure at all how "true" this show is, if it is SIGN ME UP, i would love to fawn over boys and thats the only drama in my life...

DH insists that the show isn't real because of the points you just made. He thinks that the people on laguna beach are acting.

This is why I have a problem believing this show too. I understand they are all richie riches so that's probably why their parents are never around but really come on. A mother is going to let her 17 yr old daughter go to San Francison by herself to visit a guy and get a hotel room by herself??

Plus alot of the scenes seem so contrived. Like when some one is coming over someone else's house. The cameras are both inside and outside yet they act surprised that someone is at the door.

Also... I was NOT as boy crazy and desperate as these chicks are when I was in HS.

I think it's real. I always get confused if Jessica has her own place or not though..

When I was a senior I went and visited friends @BU and BC on the weekends so I see that as no different as her going to San Fran.

And even though I think my schools senior trip was to WDW back in 1997. Think of girls like Natalee Halloway she was these girls age in in Aruba basically unsupervised (yes, and we all know what happened) times are a changing. The economy is different, my parents struggled these kids are atleast 10 years younger then most of us and just totally grew up differently plus many seem like they are "new money" kids which shows why they splurge as much as they do. You forget also that this is MTV they tape for like 6 months and make a show that is only like 20 minutes long once a week for like 10 weeks they have to cut out the boring stuff like school, SAT, Tests.. lol
