New windows-what brand?
What's the best brand of windows to get? Andersen's a really expensive but is it worth the price? American Craftsmen were significantly cheaper. Any other brands and stores to recommend? We're installing ourselves to save monwy. Thanks!

We have Anderson windows in our house -its the ONE thing the seller decided to update!
They are supposed to be very good and last for a long time. Id go w/ those.

Anderson windows is what I have. A co-worker of mine used some brand called Pella.

I love Pellas but they are more expensive than Andersens. We have Andersens.

i dont think you can go wrong with either Pella or Anderson...both are great...just Anderson is a bit more known

We just changed two windows in the house and we put in anderson windows. They have a great reputation.

We have new pella with the mullions inside the glass - I love them! If you have a standard size window you can get them at Lowes. Ours were less than $200 each and we were lucky enough that my DH's brother could install them. We saved so much money doing it this way.

We have a mix of Andersen's and Pella's in our house. I would recommend either one of them.

Thanks everyone! Guess we'll have to spend in a little more than we thought  I was hoping we could go cheaper than Andersen! Now, where to go?

I think Pella, Andersen and Marvin are the best...
However, we are replacing our windows in some of our bedrooms and all you need are good vinyl double panes which alot of companies make now and what we decided to do. We are using US window Factory for those.
I think if you are replacing a bay or bow window or big casement styles then you should spend the $ on the designer windows. We have Andersens already in some of our living/dining area rooms...but for regular windows I think vinyl non-designer are fine and of course much cheaper.

We just did all new windows in our extension as well as replacements in the house and we used Andersons except the skylights but not sure now what they are.
