Hello...Wal-Mart is not for upsacale shoppers. Can't we keep something for "us" non-upscalers?

They are only changing a few store to compete with target and Costco. Don't worry, the lower-end stores will still be around.

Why not have something that competes with Target and Costco? I think it is a great idea and good for Wal-Mart's business.

Interesting. They are opening a new Walmart near me ( the only one in Westchester that I am aware of.) I wonder which type of Wal-mart it will be.

Well, like I had posted before I didn't know that Wal-Mart had this stigma about it being so ghetto & all. I go there to shop for snacks & I leave. No big deal, but the stores down south are def. cleaner, and have an over all better feel to them. They have the grocery store on one side and the regular Wal-mart on the other. I hope that this new "upscale" thing does not affect the prices. I really do go there for low prices and I think we are al in the same boat of trying to save money in every way we can.

I do not believe it will effect the prices at the lower end stores. DH loves wal-mart because of the low prices on paper goods and some other stuff. We have a super Wal-Mart in Harriman with a food store in it. We get all non-perishables there, but I would not buy meat or produce there, we go to Adams Fairacre Farms for that (Adams is kinda like a whole foods or fairway).
I am all for saving $$ and I think a high end walmart would be good too. Maybe I would not have to go to Adams if the high end walmart carried some Oragnic foods. It would save me time and therefore $.
